It used to be that every October 31st, you'd plug yourself into the TV with your candy, your costume, and your BFF to watch the classic scary kid movies that seemed to run on repeat during the spooky month of Halloween.

These days, you're probably too busy watching Saw or Final Destination or yet another Paranormal Activity sequel to bother with your childhood's greatest hits, which is such a shame! If you happen to find yourself in the mood to watch a movie this Halloween that won't give you horrifying and bloody nightmares, check out this list below.

Here are the 11 kid friendly Halloween movies you absolutely must watch month.

1. Hocus Pocus

Hocus pocus
If you don't end up watching Hocus Pocus at least once every Halloween, then you're clearly not doing this holiday right. It's got virgin jokes, talking cats, zombies, and flying broomsticks! What more could you want? The Sanderson sisters are always a hoot, so be sure to watch them run amuck this month! (Amuck! Amuck! Amuck!)

2. The Nightmare Before Christmas

This one is a weird blend of both holidays, but the spooky factor puts it squarely in the Halloween category, if you ask us! Jack Skellington sure knows how to make a muscial number festive, whether he's in Halloween Town or Christmas Town!

3. Beetlejuice

Beetlejuice
Say his name three times, and a really gross ghost will appear and cause mischief for everyone! This one has some frightening twists, but for the most part, it's pretty kid friendly. And who doesn't love that spontaneous dance number in the middle?

4. Halloweentown

Halloweentown
Will there ever be another movie that captured the magic of Halloween so perfectly? We doubt it. An alternate dimension where it's Halloween every day, with werewolves and witches and vampires – all living together peacefully, of course – sounds like the perfect place for fans of all things spooky! (Warning: the sequel movies are totally worth skipping)

5. The Haunted Mansion

The haunted mansion
When an overworked real estate agent's family vacation takes a turn for the creepy, ghostly shenanigans ensue! Eddie Murphy is hauntingly hilarious in this one, making it the perfect blend of funny and scary. As a bonus, you can visit the real Haunted Mansion at Disneyland!

6. Casper

Casper
A friendly – and adorable – ghost awaits you, if you check out this movie on Halloween. He'll make you pancakes, show you his baseball collection, and even dance with you in a super cute human body to the slow jam of your choosing! Just make sure to watch out for his three awful uncles!
